Forbes released their annual list of the highest paid men in entertainment. Who was number one? Well, the answer may surprise a few. Tyler Perry actually tops this year’s list. With five movies last year alone, and two television shows to his credit, the writer/director/producer/actor heads the list of highest paid men in entertainment.
Perry earned $130 million between May 2010 and May 2011, which ranks him as the highest-earning man in entertainment for that time period. There was only one other actor on the list, and that was Leonardo DiCaprio, who ranked 8th.
DiCaprio earned $77 million during our time frame thanks to two of his biggest non-Titanic hits ever: Shutter Island and Inception. The two films earned a combined $1.1 billion at the global box office in 2010. Up next, the star will take on the role of former FBI head J. Edgar Hoover in a biopic directed by Clint Eastwood. The film is already generating Oscar buzz for DiCaprio.
The rest of the list was dominated by producers and television personalities. As usual, Jerry Brukheimer and Steven Spielberg were both high on the list. You can view the complete list of the highest paid men in entertainment here.
